Time Line of Events



October, 1984
Lahaina Broadcasting Company puts KPOA Radio 93.5 FM on the air. It is Lahaina's first radio station and Hawaii's first Hawaiian Music FM station. Station is founded by Ed Johnson, George Paoa and Chuck Gardiner.



March, 1990
Richard "Chuck" Bergson and family purchase stock in LBC and Chuck Bergson becomes President/GM of Lahaina Broadcasting Company and KPOA.



January, 1991
Lahaina Broadcasting Company granted license to upgrade KPOA signal power from 3,000 to 6,000 watts. (Class A to Class B License)



February, 1992
Lahaina Broadcasting Company granted license upgrade to 25,000 watts. (Class C-3 expanding coverage area)



May, 1992
KPOA wins Kahili Award presented by the Hawaiian Visitors Bureau to the businessess that do the most to "Keep it Hawaiian"



July, 1993
KPOA installs State of the Art Digital Automation/Editing System to provide superior sound and program quality.



October, 1994
Lahaina Broadcasting Company expands KPOA comverage to vitually all of Maui with the addition of 92.7 FM.



December, 1994
Lahaina Broadcasting Company purchases KLHI 101.1 FM and introduces Maui's Good Time Oldies station.



February, 1995
Lahaina Broadcasting Company granted license for booster to expand KLHI coverage provided for west Maui via 101.1 FM.



May, 1999
Lahaina Broadcasting Company acquires Maui Radio Group. Consisting of stations KMVI AM, KMUI FM, KNUI AM and KNUI FM.



October, 1999
Lahaina Broadcasting Company changes its name to Pacific Radio Group.



October, 2003
Pacific Radio Group acquires Mavrick Media with stations - KKBG FM, KLEO FM, KKOA FM and KHLO AM.



September, 2004
Pacific Radio Group sells KKOA FM.



October, 2004
Pacific Radio Group acquires, Big Island Radio with stations - KAPA FM, KAGB FM, KPVS FM, KLUA FM and KKON AM.



August, 2006
Pacific Ragio Group installs translators to provide additional coverage to West Maui on stations KPOA at 92.9, KJKS at 99.3, KLHI at 101.7 and KJMD at 107.3 FM.
