PACIFIC RADIO GROUP’S 2 MAY JOB FAIRS – KAHULUI/LAHAINA"GOT A JOB??"More than 100 businesses will be searching for qualified employees at Pacific Radio Group’s May Job Fairs happening on Saturday, May 12 from 10am to 2pm at Queen Kaahumanu Center in Kahului and on Wednesday, May 16 from 2pm to 6pm at the Lahaina Civic Center. Employers seeking applicants include new companies such as Hawaii Superferry which will soon launch business in the interisland market. In the resort industry, the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas has a brand new wing that will need hundreds of new hires. The job fair will also feature repeat participants including the Maui Police Department, The County of Maui Personnel Department and the Transportation Security Administration. Also on hand will be representatives from island banks, restaurants, hotels and retailers. This year, each job fair features a business work station, where applicants can apply online at one of several computers using a broadband internet connection from Clearwire. In Lahaina, the business work station is being set up by NexLevel Computers and Consulting, a Clearwire authorized dealer. Statistics from the State Labor Department indicate that Hawaii’s unemployment rate was 2.5% in March—representing the lowest rate in the nation, with the national rate listed at 4.4%. For that reason, event organizer Charly Espina Takahama of Pacific Radio Group decided to target both Kahului and Lahaina. “These events are a prime opportunity for businesses in key locations on Maui to find qualified summer hires and for potential employees to gain exposure to the variety of jobs available.” Saturday’s Kahului job fair is the first of two that Pacific Radio Group and the Queen Kaahumanu Center sponsors each year. The first is designed to find summer hires; the second one is for holiday hires. Job Fair #2 will be held on Saturday, October 20th. The job fair in Lahaina will be the only West Maui one sponsored by Pacific Radio Group this year. |
