L E "Eddie" Johnson Jr. - Chairman of the Board and CFO Eddie received his B.S. in Business Administration from Fresno State University in 1968. He was voted outstanding student in the field of Insurance. Eddie passed his NASD broker dealer exam in 1969 to become a registered representative while also passing the Property and Casualty and life insurance exams. In 1970 Eddie formed an independent investment group to form Monterey Bay Area Media, Inc of which he was President. He also put KLRB-FM on the air for Monterey Peninsula and operated profitably for over six year until it sold in 1977 earning a 500%+ return on investment for the original investors. In 1977 Eddie formed Carmel Food and Beverage, Inc., and became President in 1981. It has operated profitably for 24 years and now has a second restaurant (Club Jalapeno) in addition to the original “The Fabulous Toots Lagoon”. In 1983 Eddie headed an investment group which acquired Lahaina Broadcasting Co. which was vying for a new FM license for Lahaina, Maui. This group successfully put KPOA-FM on air in 1984, acquired KLHI-FM in 1994, and then acquired KMVI-AM/FM and KNUI-AM/FM from Maui Radio Group creating a dominant broadcasting company in the Maui Market. Lahaina Broadcasting Co. then changed its name to Pacific Radio Group. In 1996 he formed Island Airwaves Corporation with Robert Van Dine and Chuck Bergson to lease land on Ulupalakua and secure permits to construct a premier tower facility for the Maui market which operates profitably with several tenants. |
